Book: Sandy's Experience Printed Copy

Have you ever wondered how to speak to children about
sexual abuse, but felt too uncomfortable with the subject?

As parents, educators, including school counsellors, and all
who believe that it takes a village to raise a child, we may all want a world where children can live freely without having the experience of any type of
abuse, including sexual abuse.

Sandy’s Experience allows us the space to discuss this topic primarily from a preventative perspective, but also with the opportunity to reflect on supporting
children through the healing process.

The story is set in a familiar home-to-school environment and so parents, school counsellors, and other educators may find that the children could easily connect with the context.

The targeted age group is 8 o 14.

My hope is that this story will help us with our prevention efforts, within our sphere of influence!

I first published a very surface level version of this story after doing research in five secondary schools for my Masters thesis. Out of that research, Ginger's Experience formed part of my book: Introductory Book on HIV/AIDS for Elementary School Level and Beyond. I have since completed extensive editing with parents, teachers, and counsellors in mind, and from a preventative perspective. Sandy's Experience is therefore a more expansive book than the shorter story line in Ginger's Experience.

Let's help a child today!
